It’s hard to believe, but the first quarter is drawing to a close. Only two school weeks are left until the second quarter begins on October 23rd. I will begin accepting the 100 point Bbbbonus on October 16th. If you have a test to retake, you will need to take the exam before International Day on October 20th. Report cards will go out on October 27th, and parent conferences will be on October 30th.
Although Grace’s was over a week ago, it was still a very special day. This morning as I scarfed down on some mao dou (hairy soybeans), out popped a white worm. Mmmm. What a way to start your day. Yes, I was highly disgusted, but fortunately the guy was dead. The sucker was campin’out in the pod when it got boiled a couple days ago. Something very similar actually happened to me back in May. While I was gettin’ my grub on at a location I won’t disclose, I found a little maggot that got baked in the roll I had just chomped on. That one really gave me the shivers. Mmmm. Protein.
The past three weeks have been busy now that I’m back in the classroom, but life has been going extremely well for the Wickershams. Today we celebrated a very special day that is worthy of me taking time out to write a blog – Grace’s first birthday. Megan put up some fun b-day decorations in our home, made a delicious strawberry cake, brewed coffee for the moms and moi, and took lots of pics of a bunch of kids makin’ our home a whole lot livelier. It’s fair to say Grace didn’t realize there was a party in her honor, but she enjoyed it nevertheless. Grace hunkered down on her cupcake making quite the mess. She was rather slow in unwrapping her gifts so some of her older neighborhood pals were able to assist in that process. She not only enjoyed what she received, but was noticeably happy with the wrapping as well. Thanks to Sony we caught it all on video so we look forward to watching September 1st, 2006 many more times.
